This less than favorable review is in no way refering to the content, only the construction and materials. This is a "pocket" field guide and have used them in the field, in my pocket. I like it very much. I have not re-ordered this since the use of the spiral bound spine. I prefer to make notes in my 2007, the last year of the staple bound spine. Reason is, this spiral spine is fine sitting in a drawer or in a brief case, but not much good for carrying in a pocket. The spirals rotate, kink, snag on clothing and the pages tear out due to the flexing and snagging in daily use. The staple bound book stays together and slips in an out of a pants back pocket smoothly. You can sit on it without feeling like a spring is poking you. I do hope the staple spine version is manufactured again some day. Rounded corners, like a passport, would be even better.
